Give yourself a break

Life is challenging, sometimes more than others. Some people think life should be like Disneyland all the time. All fun and happy, no dark clouds, no pain, no emotional down times and such.

When something “bad” does happen they freak out, get all upset and actually make it worse.

Listen, when the inevitable downswings in life happen to you give yourself a break. Don’t think the sky is falling. Whatever is happening is only temporary, it will get better. Heck, EVERYTHING in this life is temporary so remember that and just deal with the present situation the best that you can. When you’re in a down time it isn’t the time to start thinking about your whole life, what’s going to happen in the future, wishing you had done things different in the past, even about what you need to do next week at work.

When you’re down you are in a weakened state physically, mentally, emotionally so don’t make life decisions and evaluations from a weak position. Just stay in the moment, delegate and put off what you can and take care of yourself. Then the next thing you know you’ll get better and stronger and then you can go back to working on your life again.

Always remember what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. A diamond is but a lump of coal under great stress. Adversity is a needed part of life and it will always keep coming at times as long as we are alive. Learn to welcome the challenges and to understand in the scope of your whole life most of them are little things. If you can keep this perspective it will ease your burdens when they do appear.

Keep your foundation strong, eat better, move better, think better and get your adjustments. This way you can come from a position of strength when you are faced with challenges.

Which half of America will you be in?

There are a lot of people who think America is getting healthier. That people are turning more to natural health care, wellness care, drugless care and prevention. That more and more people are participants in the “Wellness Revolution”.

But here are the facts: The Center for Disease Control (CDC) claims that the percentage of Americans on prescription drugs has risen 8% in the past 20 years and 2012 may be the first year that one-half of Americans are regularly on prescription drugs.  When it comes to Chiropractic some say that the number of people who see a chiropractor with any regularity is less than 2%.

I believe there is a time and place for medicine, mostly for temporary emergency use. Medicine can save lives. But I also know that drugs by definition are toxins, poisons, and the less of them in your system the better. I also know that drugs are big business and healthy people are poor customers.

It makes sense to me that whatever you can do to prevent or fix a problem so as to never take drugs in the first place or to lessen and maybe eventually get off drugs is a good way to go. What do you think?

Another fact is all healing comes from inside out not outside in. The Power that made the body heals the body. So if your body is running at full power it should take care of itself and heal itself. The nervous system is what tells everything in your body how to work. If there is interference (STRESS) in the nervous system so your brain isn’t able to tell your body how to work right then things break down eventually showing symptoms. This is how disease starts.

Stress (physical, chemical, emotional) causes your spine to get out of “whack”. When your spine loses proper motion and function then you get interference in the nervous system and the spine rots and decays (arthritis a.k.a. Degenerative Joint Disease) . An adjustment is aimed at restoring proper motion in the spine, removing interference in the nervous system so your body can heal whatever it needs to heal. Does this make sense to you?

Stress happens on a regular basis so getting adjusted on a regular basis makes sense. Just like brushing your teeth, exercising, eating healthy etc you only benefit if you do it on a regular basis. That’s just the way life works.

I know I harp on this a lot but I know your life will get better if you are coming in and getting adjusted on a regular basis. I’ve seen it happen over and over again. There is a lot more going on here than just moving bones, there is a healing energy here. I want to help you. I want to make this world better one person at a time. But I need your help. I need you to walk through the door. I need you to tell others about what we’re doing here.

I really wish the best for you.

God Bless,

Kyle

To supplement or not to supplement, that is the question…

People ask me a lot about supplements, vitamins, minerals, fish oil, glucosamine, this that and the other thing so let me give you some general guidance here and now.

These days unless you are eating a well balanced diet of all organic food (not many including me) and don’t have much stress (definitely not many!) I would say you should be taking some kind of supplements to make sure you’re getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function optimally.

I would recommend that you get a whole food concentrate type supplement as opposed to a synthetic type. It’s true there are a lot of choices and hype out there when it comes to supplements and unfortunately most of the stuff in the GNC, Costco etc isn’t too great. Most of the cheaper synthetic vitamins are made from coal tar (yecch) and will not help you so you’re wasting your money.

My number one source is a company called Standard Process. They have been around since 1929 and make quality whole food supplements. Now there are other good companies out there but I don’t have the time to research them all to answer whether what you’re taking is working for you or not. So my solution is that I can muscle test your supplements and your body will tell us what’s working and what’s not.

Please, if you would like me to do this for you just bring a couple at a time. I’ve had people bring bags & bags of supplements. You don’t need to be taking 50 million pills, keep it simple. On a regular basis I do a multivitamin/mineral (Catalyn from Standard Process) and  enzymes (Multizyme, again SP) . I’ll do some flax seed oil and probiotics fairly regularly too. There are other great supplements for different things that happen that I’ll take but only when those situations come up.

Nutrition, what you eat and supplements can play a great part in helping you heal and prevent many things. If you want specific testing on exactly what you need at this point of your life I have a great nutritionist I will refer you to and She’ll give you a great discount because I’m sending you. Just let me know if you would like to take that route, very beneficial.

And remember the bottom line is as good as the food and supplements are, once you swallow them your body has to digest, absorb and transport the nutrients to all the cells of your body for you to benefit. All of that process is controlled by your nervous system so if it isn’t running well you’re not going to get all you can out of that nutrition. So make sure you keep getting in here to get your weekly adjustment and keep your power on!

How to keep your New Year’s Resolutions…

We’re coming up to another new year. Most people take this time to reflect on their life and vow to make some positive changes in the coming year.

I’m all for making our life better, taking on good habits, letting bad ones go.

The problem is that most of us have great intentions and start off the new year strong but in a few weeks we slowly slip back into the old habits and nothing ends up changing. Sound familiar?

Now some people say the way to avoid this disappointment is not to make any resolutions in the first place then you don’t have to worry about not keeping them!

I think we should always be working on making better choices in our lives, everyday not just at New Year’s. If you’re not moving forward you’re slipping back.

Making changes takes courage, strength and discipline this is true AND we all have these qualities in us, sometimes they’re just hiding from us.

To make changes you need to come from a strong foundation. The foundation of your whole life, body, mind and spirit is your nervous system. This is where you live. This is what tells your whole body how to work, think, live!

Getting adjusted on a regular basis will strengthen your nervous system, make the foundation stronger. As your foundation, your power increases you will be able to tap in to all your God given abilities more and more. This will make it more possible for you to make the postive changes in your life and stick with them. It will help you to finally start achieving those goals you have been dreaming about for so long.

If you start getting adjusted on a regular basis your life will get better, simple as that. If you make your nervous system stronger, make your foundation stronger you can’t help getting better and I’m talking EVERY part of your life. So this New Year take the courage (I know you can do it!) to step up to the plate and invest in yourself. Come in and get dialed in to an unlimited plan. If you’re ready I want to help you.  It’s one resolution you’ll never regret!

Happy New Year all!

Kyle

P.S. Wave to me at the Rose Parade. I’ll be in a white suit and red helmet on a scooter!

Holiday hours reminder and a Christmas wish for you…

As another Christmas approaches I am reflecting more and more on what is really important in our lives.

I love the whole Christmas experience. The decorating of the tree and house. I have the manger I grew up with still and I enjoy special memories of setting it up every year as long as I can remember. I especially love Christmas music, just makes me feel good. Watching Polar Express with my kids, and of course Its a Wonderful Life that movie makes me cry everytime! Spending time with friends and family, treats and toasts (remember – everything in moderation including moderation!) watching college football bowl games, doing my White Suiter work culminating in the Rose Parade, it’s all good!

Let me tell you though. I had a few years where Christmas would be a very sad time, I would get sick physically and emotionally every Christmas season. Christmas sucked! This was the result of what happened on Christmas Eve 1985. I awoke very early to the sound of my dad gasping, struggling for breath. I ran into his bedroom freaked out, not knowing what to do as I stood there with dad sitting on the edge of his bed fighting to breathe. Then he just fell back against the wall and I will never forget the look in his eyes, the look of fear as I stood there and watched him die.

He had been diagnosed the month before with throat cancer and had just started radiation treatments. The radiation though caused his lungs to fill with fluid and he basically had a heart attack while drowning.

My Dad and Greta

My mission since then is to keep that scary stuff from happening to other people. That’s why I constantly tell people that getting adjusted regularly will reduce the chances of a 911 type event like that from happening to you. That’s the power of chiropractic, to keep the nervous system strong so your body has its full healing power turned on that God gave you so hopefully you never get to the point where my dad was.

My Christmas wish for you is that you remember that “things” are unimportant, you can always replace or get more things. People, relationships, experiences  are the most important thing we all have in this life. Cherish the people in your life. Stay present in the moments and truly experience your life. Be thankful for all you have. I wish you the very best holiday season. I hope you will take some time and think about the choices you are making now, how you are living now, and make wise choices that will lead to the type of life you want to have in the future years.

Merry Christmas to one and all!

This might not be the right place for you…

Your experience here with me will be different than with the majority of other chiropractors around this is true. And I admit that I am not right for everyone so I thought I would let you know some of the main qualities that most of my practice members have so it might help you decide if my office is a good fit for you.

They take responsibility for themselves and their health.

They do not focus on symptoms but instead focus on restoring their body’s function, keeping the “power” turned on so their body will take care of whatever it needs to take care of.

They enjoy the convenience of not needing appointments and being able to get in, adjusted, and out quickly.

They want true, pure, old-time, old-fashioned chiropractic adjustments not fancy gizmos and gadjets.

They LOVE the affordability to get themselves and their family adjusted on a weekly basis.

They continually seek to know and understand more of how their body works and how regular adjustments benefit every part of their life.

They are happy, hopeful and grateful.

They are constantly helping others by sharing the chiropractic story and referring in their friends, family, co-workers, neighbors etc. Which means they have joined my mission to make this world better one person at a time!

They understand the importance of making getting adjusted a part of their healthy lifestyle just as they regularly eat right, exercise, brush their teeth and so on.

They are coachable.

They know the best time to be here is when they are feeling GREAT!

They enjoy being inspired.

They know they will always walk out the door better than when they walked in.

They love being treated like family.

So these are a few of my members qualities. If that is what you’re looking for then you’ve come to the right place!

Take care, Kyle

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving with friends and family.

I definitely have a whole lot to be thankful for. My family, our health and well-being, roof over our head and food on the plate. I am really thankful that I get to help people everyday better their lives through my work as a chiropractor.

I give thanks to all of you for allowing me the privilege and honor of helping you.

I would like to highlight one recent example of how much we are making the world better. I did a health talk at Lender Processing services, a local business here in town. These great folks have stepped up to the plate and donated to one of my favorite charities, Mending Kids International.

Mending Kids International provides life-changing surgical care to children worldwide. Over the years, thousands of children have received corrective,  transformational surgeries that have given them another chance at a longer, healthier life. Most of the surgeries performed are for congenital heart defects, orthopedic abnormalities, severe scoliosis and significant cranial facial deformities. In the past five years, 500 children from 39 countries have received life-saving surgeries. This is a great humanitarian organization. If you’d like to know more about them click here.

So thanks to all my new LPS friends here is a picture of me delivering over $500 to my friend Marchelle for Mending Kids.

Donating to Mending Kids!

Believe me this money will help DRASTICALLY change children’s lives for the better. Thank you LPS for your help and I’d like to give a special shout out to Annie and Josephine who gave me the opportunity to come talk health and chiropractic at LPS.

THANK YOU to ALL my practice members, together we are making the world a BETTER place! Have a GREAT Thanksgiving everyone!

We had a full house here last night for our free dinner and a show. Homemade “soul food” (made with love) from my wife Julie and a floor show by me. The crowd loved it and gave us the coveted review of two thumbs up!

For those of you who couldn’t make it I want to give you a few highlights of the show because the information presented could just literally SAVE your life! So here are the 3 secrets to growing younger and living longer along with a few action steps you can start right now:

Secret # 1 Have an Attitude of Gratitude: Yes, we all have challenges in life but we also all have blessings. Focus on your blessings, what’s working, what you are grateful for.

Action step: Start a blessings journal. Each night before going to sleep write down 2, 3 or more blessings that you have in your life. These are the thoughts to go to sleep on!

Secret # 2 Live a Healthy Lifestyle; Move Better, Eat Better, Think Better: The better lifestyle choices you make means the more daily stresses you avoid which makes you a happy camper!

Action step - Move better: Start walking, this is the best exercise we have. Walk at least 10 to 15 minutes daily.

Action step - Eat better: Eat more fresh vegetables & fruits. Work towards making these 80% of your meals. Your drink of choice? Water. First thing in the morning drink a big glass of water. Ultimately you want to be drinking half your weight in ounces daily (ex: you weigh 160 pounds drink 80 oz.s).

Action step – Think better: Don’t forget to feed your mind with healthy, positive input. Remember, crap in means crap out. Life is challenging enough without watching, reading & listening to negative stuff! Replace the news (very negative) with something uplifting, encouraging, positive. Some of my regular favorites: the Bible, comedy, Sound of Music etc.

Secret # 3 Maintain a Clear Neurological Connection Between Your Brain & Body: The foundation of your life is your nervous system. It is the master control for all your body, your heart, digestion, immune system, every one of your over trillion cells. Stress causes interference & results in abnormal patterns in your nervous system. These patterns or “blueprints” are where all disease starts. It may take years or decades for the disease to then show up physically in the body & show symptoms. By then it’s a big problem & sometimes the first symptom is the last symptom!

Action step: Get adjusted on a regular basis to clear out the interference & re-pattern your nervous system so your body can express it’s full healing power & take care of itself! I make it easy and affordable for you to make chiropractic part of your lifestyle.

SPECIAL OFFER: If you or someone you know wants to come in and give us a “test drive” I will give you 2 weeks of adjustments for only $40. Then once you see how great it is to be adjusted regularly you can get dialed in to my unlimited program for as low as $69 a month. To take advantage of this speacial test drive you need to come in or call for an appointment before Thanksgiving so act now!

Are you flushing your toilet?

I was doing a health talk at a local business yesterday ( if you’d like me to speak at your work, church or other group please let me know I love to spread the word on getting healthier) and I wanted to share with you one of my points on moving better which means exercise.

Now most people know exercise is good for them in some kind of way but they still sometimes lack the desire and motivation to actually get out and MOVE!

So let me tell you about your lymphatic system. This is a system of vessels that you have in your body kind of like the arteries and veins that your heart pumps blood through but in the lymphatics it is lymph that moves through the vessels.

So your lymphatics is basically your sewer system. It is how your body gets rid of a lot of your waste products. The problem is that there is no “heart” to pump the waste out. The waste is moved along by your muscles. So no exercise means no waste movement resulting in a back-up.

Picture this, all this next week when you use your bathroom the one thing you can’t do is flush the toilet. Now at the end of the week how is your bathroom going to look? How’s it going to smell? Not a pretty picture is it?

That’s what your body is like when you’re not exercising and your sewer is all backed up! So the moral to the story is get up and move, flush your toilet daily! Just start out walking 15 minutes daily and you’ll be doing great, and as a bonus that habit of walking will add three years to your life too!
